• What are the bats studying on the page where they’re hanging from a lamp?

• What other things does the spiral look like?
• Have you seen a spiral like that anywhere in nature?
• Use multiplication to figure out how many panes of glass are in the stained glass windows when the bats first arrive at the library (three window systems, each divided into six individual windows. Each of the larger windows consists of 3 x 6 panes, each of the smaller windows consists of 3 x 3 panes. 243 panes total—if you consider decorative panels as one pane, and do not count colored inclusions as panes)
• Count how many bats you see in the book. You may have to look very hard—some of the bats are hidden in the background! Some may be silhouettes or shapes of bats. (Author’s count: 297)
