The publisher of Hamlet and the Magnificent Sandcastle, Moon Mountain Publishing, sponsored renowned Texas sand sculptor Sandy Feet in building an 8-foot tall, 20-ton sculpture of Hamlet hard at work on his sandcastle. The then-Governor of Rhode Island, the Hon. Lincoln Almond, read the book to a crowd. Sandy worked from 9 AM until 4 PM in the scorching sun, without a break, to get it done. And after it was finished, she let a group of kids knock it down!
